Humans Beware

All backyard gardens need a warning sign, because of all sorts of creepy crawlers and flying critters out there, that clearly states, "Humans Beware!"

We are here and there and everywhere, so humans beware!

There may be brightly colored flowers and plants in various shades of green
But we are here and many times we go unseen, so humans beware!

We slither through the grass and hide under leaves
We burrow into the ground near the roots of trees, so humans beware!

We nest in sheds, in wooden eves and fences and we can sting and bite
Sometimes we swarm above the lawn at twilight, so humans beware!

We are harmless looking leaves and fuzzy wild flowers and weeds
You might not want us but be careful how you pull and cut us, so humans beware!

Our pollen and spores fly through the air and stick to clothes, skin, and hair
You can get blisters and rashes that itch and weep and make it very hard to sleep,
so humans beware!

We make or dens in hollow logs, woodpiles, under sheds or porches
You won't see us during the day but in the evenings stay away or we'll spray
So humans beware!

These are a sampling of life's lessons learned in the backyard over the years
If you wish to enjoy yourself out there then remember my warning, "Humans Beware!"
