Really Good Food

I can never pass up a well cooked piece of crispy bacon or a piece of flaky crusted blueberry pie. But my favorite was my aunt's snow pudding made with lemon curd and fluffy white, melt in your mouth meringue, piled ever so high.

When I was young, french toast meant white bread dipped in a milk and egg wash and cooked on a griddle. When served you topped it with a mix of sugar and cinnamon over  melted  butter that was drizzled.

My girlfriend's mom made tasty fried bologna with ketchup sandwiches. They tasted better than hamburger cooked with tomato sauce known as Sloppy Joes or Manwiches.

I can't leave out grilled cheese sandwiches made with Velveeta, not American, Swiss or Cheddar. Grilling them on the griddle made them taste all the better.

At fairs or carnivals I can't just pass by a cotton candy vendor. Oh the sweet sticky flavors those cotton covered cones render!

When it comes to meat my favorite is  strip steak medium rare and broiled to perfection. Served with a green salad, mashed potatoes and a river of gravy passes my inspection.

When I was a kid summer meant Bluefish broiled or baked. My cousin worked on a fishing boat and quite often we shared in his take. Serve it with stewed tomatoes and macaroni and cheese baked.

Fridays in school were pizza sandwiches made with provolone on a roll topped with tomato sauce, and  Mary Jane days. My love for that molasses candy still remains.

Those are the highlights and I know there's more, like stuffed peppers and lasagna I now buy ready made at the store.

I used to cook more than I do now. To Encore, Banquet, and Stouffer's I humbly bow. That's all for now!
