Time Out For Tea

We as women sit down to afternoon tea
We are in groups of two or three
On the odd occasion we are four
That’s the most we can fit, and no more

We speak of family and of friends
We know each others quirks and bends
We celebrate friendship without condemnation
We support each other with affirmation

There’s just something so soothing about a hot cup of tea
It gives you time to relax, let your hair down, be free
For one short hour, never two
We find time to say we care about you

When tea time is done and the table is cleared
We hug our goodbyes and leave in good cheer
Then it’s back to our lives, our families, our homes
Until the next invitation for tea our way comes
