How I Spent My Day Off

I'm just writing to write
Choosing today's subject is my plight
It's Veterans Day, a labor intensive no teaching day
It's a hang window curtains, wash shower curtains and towels day
It's a, "When I do choose a subject what can I say?" day

Enough of this hemming and hawing
Enough of this cyclical mental jawing
The newly hung curtains is where my mind is gnawing
At my conscience because of several holes that need filling
Because finding the right spot for drilling
Was leaving me frustrated and unwilling
To start a new plan for installing the hardware, so buzz killing

After so many false starts and unsightly holes
The hardware went up and then came the poles
Stuck tightly in plastic removing them was taking its toll
On my last little nerve and my care worn soul
At least I was listening to 60's rock-and-roll

I have neglected to mention I had to move furniture and wires
As slowly and carefully on the step ladder I moved higher and higher
Until the top of the window I could reach just prior
To threading the curtains and hanging them, made me tire
Of the task at hand, never again would I aspire
To hang window curtains until again the need arises and makes me out a liar
