Peace and Calm a poem by Marian M. Fay

When I was five and twenty I envisioned me at the dinning table sitting
There was a sense of peace and calm while my thoughts to paper I was committing
This charming life of ordinary can be glimpsed at times like these
Today I'm five and fifty and embodying that vision, but it is dearly bought and certainly not with ease
It is bought with hard work, prayer, and dedication
Learning to love through stamina and patience has really been an education

This feeling of calm isn't from putting things in order
it comes from being OK with the order they are in
And recognizing that others don't have to march to the beat of my drum
Their own drums beat so loud that mine sometimes seems to get struck dumb
Keep you dreams alive, so what if they are yours alone?
Stay the course and keep dreaming, your path isn't etched in stone.
If one path has become stony and your life choices seem bleak,
Instead of grinding them, tumble those stones until they shine at their perfect peak.
