Present, Presents, and Presence: A Real Head Scratcher

Present:
1. (of a person) in a particular place.
2. Existing or occuring now.
3. Something that you are given on a special occasion.

Presents:
1. Give something to someone formally or ceremonially.
2. Bring about or be the cause of a problem or difficulty.

Presence:
1. The state or fact of existing or being present in a place or thing.
2. A person or thing that exists or is present in a place but not seen.

Now, using the above definitions for a frame of reference, try to follow my train of thought as it pulls away from the station: When you were born your mom, dad, doctor and nurses were present in the delivery room. God's presence was also felt in that room. You were present inside your mom's body and then you became present outside your mom's body and in a real way you were a present fromg God to your parents and you presented them much awaited lifestyle changes. You became a noisy and beautiful presence to be reckoned with.

Now wait there's more!

As you  got older you were present at your birthday parties and you were in the presence of friends and family who presented you with presents.  Your present birthday where you are presently getting birthday presents from all who are present is blessed because of your presence.

And now in the presence of my readers and listeners and while I still have presence of mind I bring this alliterative prose to a close.
