Junk Or Treasure?

Mother's buffet junk drawer was full of treasures
Bits and pieces of life's past pleasures
Holiday cards, playing cards, pencils and pens
Clips, markers, rubber bands, and other odds and ends

Emptying that drawer left me emotionally drained
In some ways I said good bye to my past and its remains
It was like letting go of mother all over again
Downsizing isn't without its bittersweet pains
