Background

Don’t They Know Who We Are?

I once was an Augustinian Volunteer
Those were two Holy Spirit filled years
Now Catholic Volunteers in Florida
But in my day we were Augustinian
Do I really care, not one iota
God’s grace is with them, and that’s my opinion

My eyes were opened and my walk was steep
The world as I viewed it was changed so to speak
Comforting the needy became just a part of life
Watching injustices cut through me like a knife

I was younger and energetic then
But lessons learned may serve again
As a guide to the future and how we should live
God’s love is abundant, so let’s all give
Christ’s love as He would have us do
Live life like He meant it, all of you!

P.S. When we were in formation training we were on the campus of Biscayne College. We were supposed to show ID every time we left and returned to the facility where we were staying. This got old real fast with us to the point where we came up as our sub theme for that week, “Don’t they know who we are?” Biscayne College is now St. Thomas of Villanova University.
